‘Nothing is more the child of art than a garden’, quoted Sir Walter Scott. Gardens are a valuable botanic and cultural ‘living’ heritage that tells much about societies and historical eras they come from. A census of around 850 gardens has been taken in Piemonte, scattered in the countryside, among vineyards, alpine valleys and urban contexts.
