A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, the elegant complex of the Royal Residences of Piemonte invites you to a fascinating journey into the Baroque architecture, the art and the historical gardens of our region. Work of the leading architects and artists between the XVII and the XVIII century, this system known as “Crown of Delights of Savoy” radiates out from Torino to the Langhe and Canavese areas.
The Royal Torino
Let Torino surprise you with the Palazzo Reale, the Palazzo Chiablese and the Musei Reali (Royal Museums), which preserve Leonardo da Vinci’s self-portrait and a unique group of drawings, along with the Chapel of the Sindone (Holy Shroud), a Baroque masterpiece, Palazzo Madama, Palazzo Carignano, Castello del Valentino and Villa della Regina, on the hills overlooking the city, which hosts one of the oldest urban vineyard in Europe, still producing a Freisa DOC wine.
At a short distance, enjoy the stunning Reggia di Venaria with its magnificent gardens and the Castello della Mandria with 3,000 hectares of fenced and protected parkland.
Let’s move on to the Castello di Rivoli, the first museum of contemporary art founded in Italy, then visit the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi and the Castello di Moncalieri.
In Piemonte
In the Canavese area around Ivrea, you can reach the Castello di Agliè, whereas the Castello di Racconigi and its landscape park is a place of great charm in the province of Cuneo. Among hills and villages, immersed in the Langhe greenery, do not miss the Castello di Govone and the Tenuta di Pollenzo, home to the University of Gastronomic Sciences and the Wine Bank.
