Piedmont, the land of Golf
With over 51 golf clubs and 15 driving ranges for every level, Piedmont is among the most attractive destinations for golfers. Its spectacular locations, combine stunning scenery with a very high technical quality of courses.
A long-lasting friendship, the one between Piedmont and golf, which began in 1898 at the “Couturbier Golf Course” in Novara, the first and only Piedmontese golf course at a time when only two existed in Italy. Count Gaspar Voli, also famous for his frequent trips to Scotland, built a nine-hole course on his estate, in collaboration with his neighbor, Count Avogadro di Collobiano.
Piedmont now ranks second among Italian regions for the number of courses. Golfers can choose between the high mountains, up to 2,035 meters in Sestriere, the highest golf course in Europe, the Unesco heritage hills of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, as well as the Alessandria area, or the Novara plain. Players can immerse themselves in astonishing parks a few steps from the city of Turin, or in the delightful Biella countryside or near Lake Maggiore. It is no coincidence that in the ranking of the prestigious magazine "Italy Top 4 Golf" Piedmont boasts 5 golf grounds among the top 10.
And in addition to its refined greens, Piedmont, a destination off the beaten track, can offer a great variety of experiences ranging from cultural destinations to historical-spiritual itineraries, up to its renowned fabulous food and wine offer: great wines, 46 starred chefs and a wide range of restaurants that know how to satisfy the most demanding visitors.
Turin is also the birthplace of the Molinari brothers, both winners of the Ryder Cup. Francesco Molinari, the first Italian in history who won a major tournament (British Open Championship 2018), began playing golf at the Turin La Mandria Golf Club.
