The promotion of Piedmontese certified products gets underway in large scale distribution

Describing the excellence of Piedmont’s products with PDO, PGI, DOC and DOCG certified origin in large scale distribution, promoting the knowledge of their quality and distinctiveness to the general public, supporting the connection with the region of origin, educating about the sustainability and tradition of local production.

This is the spirit behind the partnership between the Agriculture and Food Department of Regione Piemonte, VisitPiemonte and Carrefour Italy, which has led to setting up a stand at the Carrefour Hypermarket in Grugliasco (Turin).

For four months starting from 18 February, the corner will offer consumers the chance to discover the quality products of Piedmont, which will be displayed in rotation and can then be purchased in the appropriate departments of the Hypermarket. A bilingual brochure and two gadget postcards will be distributed at the stand, illustrating the region and the products.

In addition, a selection of products will be presented to the public every week by a dedicated hostess. From Baraggia Biellese e Vercellese rice (the only Italian PDO cereal) to liqueurs such as Grappa and genepì, for a multi-sensory experience of scents and aromas of the Piedmontese Alps. Vermouth, invented in Turin in 1786 by Benedetto Carpano, the famous ambassador of the worldwide aperitif ritual cannot be missed. Then there are cured meats, such as Salame Piemonte PGI, and the varied array of PDO cheeses as Raschera, Toma Piemontese and Castelmagno, up to the authentic bottled treasure represented by wines such as Barbera d'Alba DOC, Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG, Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC, Dolcetto DOC and Cortese DOCG, celebrated this year with a series of dedicated events and initiatives (LINK to website page).

Piedmontese food and wine products, especially those of certified quality, are a widespread heritage that is increasingly appreciated and sought after by both Italian and foreign visitors for its great variety and diversity - an advocate of the regional identity of each product.

Created by VisitPiemonte on behalf of Regione Piemonte following all safety regulations, the stand incorporates the images and graphics of the "Piemonte singolare" communication campaign, devised by VisitPiemonte for the Region, where Taste is among the 4 main themes of the Piedmontese tourist offer, together with art and culture, outdoor activities and spiritual itineraries.
