Christmas in Turin and Province

Christmas lights up Turin with over a month of celebrations from December 1, 2023, to January 7, 2024. This year, a rich calendar of events includes themed markets, the ice skating rink in Piazza Solferino in the Christmas Village, the Christmas grove in Piazzetta Reale, the Advent calendar in Piazza San Giovanni, Luzzati's nativity scene at the Cavour Gardens, and more, including concerts, gospel choirs, tastings, and activities for both adults and children.

From December 16 to January 7, every day from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, the videomapping show will illuminate Piazza San Carlo with mountain landscapes, countryside scenes, and urban views covered in snow or rain. This year, Piazzetta Reale and the Bosco become places of rhymes, music, and sounds with the "Seven Christmas Stories by Gianni Rodari" event: a space of sonic and visual narration dedicated to all, young and old. The entire square will be involved: the facade of Palazzo Reale, the grove of fir trees, and the surrounding area. To fully experience the Christmas atmosphere through the city streets, the Christmas Train will take you through the beauties of Turin with special stops at the Santa's Village in Piazza Solferino and via Garibaldi.

Reggia di Venaria

The "Magical Christmas Village" of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato

Among the most well-known Christmas markets in the entire region, there is undoubtedly the Magical Christmas Village, an event spread across the territory of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, listed by the European Best Destinations portal among the top 10 most important Christmas markets in Europe. Every weekend until December 17, this unmissable event welcomes thousands of visitors to the locations of Govone, Asti, and San Damiano.

Asti's Christmas market is one of the largest in Italy: the 120 wooden stalls await you until December 19, while the historic center of Asti will host hundreds of craft and typical product stalls with specialties from various regions of Italy. The stalls are open on weekdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, on Sundays, and exceptionally on Wednesday, December 8, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

In the Royal Castle of Govone, music and animation will recreate a fairy-tale atmosphere with elves, gospel choirs, and, of course, Santa Claus. Monumental light installations, chalets offering Piedmontese specialties, street food, and mulled wine will be available from November 18 to December 17.

In San Damiano d'Asti, instead, the Nativity comes to life in the ancient tradition of the Living Nativity with dozens of characters, scenes, and depictions to admire among historical alleys and courtyards scheduled for December 3, 8, and 10 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Christmas Markets in the Valleys of Lake Maggiore

From the Valleys of Ossola, with typical alpine villages covered in snow, to the charming towns overlooking Lake Maggiore, Orta, and Mergozzo, the historical villages of the Lakes Tourist District are ready to host numerous Christmas events.

And when Christmas reflects in lights reflected on the water, coloring the markets in mountain villages and enchanting nativity scenes, it's easy to become a child again: for example, with Santa's Grotto in Stresa and Ornavasso, or be fascinated by the Christmas markets in Santa Maria Maggiore (December 8-10) and the Nativity scenes on the water in Crodo (December 3-January 8).

In Santa Maria Maggiore, in the village embraced by the Piedmontese Alps, you can take a step back in time with Christmas markets showcasing gastronomic products and local crafts, as well as exhibitions, tastings, and traveling shows.

In Arona, on December 3, at the Oratory of San Giorgio di Mercurago, numerous stalls await you with handicrafts, food, and many gift ideas along with entertainment activities and music.
